Free Advice!
When I was a kid I always read Dear Abby in the newspaper and harbored a secret fantasy about being an advice columnist so today is the day I’m answering your questions! Ask me for advice on ANY topic and I’ll give you my 2 cents! My advice is worth what you’ll be paying for it by the way 🙂
Caveat: We already have “too many quilts” & there are no quilt gift events in the future, so all of my UFO’s WIPS’ projects in some stage of undone are frivilous in nature.
How should I prioritize what to work on first?

I would alternate complex and time-consuming projects with faster projects so you can make steady progress on the challenging ones but have a satisfying sense of accomplishment with finishing the others. Psychologically it’s really important to finish projects. UFOs become a burden and a total downer if they hang around too long. Finish them up and move on!

Building on AMYPS question, how do you keep your WIPs organized, and yourself on track, when there is always something new and gorgeous that catches your eye?

We have these mysterious things called “deadlines” that force us to focus when it comes to work-related projects. We have to be disciplined and single-minded about getting certain things done on time. I suggest that you make your own deadlines of working through projects to finish things in a time-frame that would be manageable and feel satisfying. As far as WIP, we keep them in baskets that slide into frames so we can keep all of the pieces and fabrics together. We use Ikea’s Algot wire baskets for our stash as well as WIPs and UFOs. If we can’t fit them all in there we have to finish one! I have more unstarted garment projects because they don’t have deadlines and we’ve just had too much work over the past 4-5yrs. I’m not buying any more fabric until I make more progress on working through the fabric I already have waiting for a spare weekend.
