Mindfulness Calendar
Next Wednesday many of the people in my industry will be focused on a quilt show. I will be traveling to it but more focused on it being Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Christian season of Lent. While many people give up things for Lent, I love this calendar from Traci Smith that allows people to combine service, sacrifice and prayer with specific assignments throughout the holy season. It’s more of a mindfulness calendar encouraging you to send a card to someone who needs extra love or buy food for an animal shelter or not have screen time or simplify meals for a day. This calendar is great for families with kids in particular as it teaches sacrifice in different ways. I’d love to hear about how others observe holy days whatever your faith.
For many years I have tried to do small good things to brighten the life of those around me in addition to the traditional giving up. I have made a point of writing letters to my friends who live away. It is an opportunity to reach out and to give a moment to stop and reflect on our long friendship (I have often sent a tea bag for the cuppa while they read.) Great post thank you.
